Disciplines

eleven ways of making

Classical Indian traditions and contemporary technique, practised side by side rather than kept apart.

(01)

Tanjore

South Indian classical painting — gesso relief built up by hand, surfaced in gold foil and set with stones. The relief catches light differently through the day.

27 works · ₹5,000–₹25,000

(02)

Pichwai

The Nathdwara devotional tradition: Shrinathji, lotus ponds and cows, rendered in fine detail layer over layer on cloth.

Commission only

(03)

Zentangle

Structured pen patterns laid down stroke by stroke. No erasing, no plan — the composition emerges out of the repetition itself.

12 works · ₹3,500–₹7,500

(04)

Texture

Relief work built in modelling paste and pigment, so the surface itself carries the composition. Best read in raking light.

12 works · ₹2,500–₹7,500

(05)

Acrylic

Opaque colour worked in layers on canvas — saturated, quick-drying, colour sitting over colour without going muddy.

14 works · ₹2,500–₹15,000

(06)

Watercolour

Transparent washes worked wet into wet. Nothing opaque, nothing corrected — every wash stays exactly where it landed.

6 works · ₹3,000–₹7,500

(07)

Modern

Contemporary abstract composition — colour, mass and negative space doing the work, with no subject to read.

2 works · ₹7,500–₹20,000

(08)

Jute, wood & diamond

Material-led one-offs: natural jute worked into wall pieces, relief built onto wooden grounds, resin drills set facet by facet.

3 works · from ₹2,500

The artist

Priti Surana

Priti Surana is a jewellery designer, artist and mentor with over two decades of experience in jewellery design, fine arts and handcrafted creations. Her work spans Tanjore, Pichwai, acrylic, texture, watercolour, Zentangle and mixed media — a blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary making.

A Psychology graduate of Maharani College, Jaipur, with a Master’s in English from the University of Rajasthan, she went on to specialise in jewellery design at the Jewellery Product Development Centre, Jaipur. She has since trained across oil and acrylic painting, watercolours, Mandala, Decoupage, Warli, Pichwai, Tanjore, stained glass, MDF art and Zentangle.

She has designed numerous jewellery collections, created over a hundred original artworks, and has mentored aspiring artists for more than seven years — including a run of free online workshops through the pandemic. Pretty Pitara is where that work is gathered and offered.

Framed, named, and yours alone.

(01)

Sold framed

Every artwork is supplied with its frame. The price you see is the price on your wall — no separate framing bill, no waiting.

(02)

Individually named

Each frame is chosen and named to complement the piece it holds, so the framing is part of the work rather than a container for it.

(03)

Made once

These are originals. Nothing is printed, reproduced or made a second time — when a piece is gone, it is gone.
